Construction

Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County builds new homes throughout Williamson County.
No experience necessary; our trained Crew Leaders will provide on education on the build site!

Age Limits: All volunteers on the work site must be 16 years old or older – no exceptions due to Federal Labor Laws. Volunteers 16-17 years old are allowed to participate in construction, but cannot get on the roof or operate power tools. They must have one adult supervisor over 21 per 4 youth.

Individuals needing to complete court ordered community service cannot fulfill their hours on a jobsite. They are however welcome to volunteer in our ReStore.

ReStore

When most people think about volunteering for Habitat for Humanity the image that comes to mind is one of building houses. Sure, construction is the most visible part of our mission, but we have so many more ways individuals and groups can give of their time to Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County.  Serving at our ReStore is another way you can help.  We can use volunteers in several areas:

  • Load and unload merchandise
  • Assist with donation pickups
  • Assist with deconstruction projects
  • Clean and prepare merchandise for sale
  • Help maintain a clean store
  • Provide friendly customer service

The ReStore is an excellent environment to gain new skills and help Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County serve more local families. Volunteer hours at the ReStore are flexible and an excellent option for anyone looking to give back. Call 615-690-8094 to schedule your volunteer day!

Office/Special Events

If you feel like your skills are more suited for the indoors, On occasion we will need volunteers to help us stay organized and a head of the game at our office or at events. These tasks include filing, data entry, and organization. This is a great avenue to put in a few hours each week.

Meal Sponsor

We like to make sure our build volunteers are happy and well fed. We ask that our meal sponsors are able to feed 35 people.

Breakfast snacks: (to be served by 7:00 a.m.)

Fruit, breakfast bars, sausage or bacon biscuits, coffee, hot chocolate and juice are recommended foods for the morning.

Lunch: (to be served at 11:30 a.m.)
Sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, chili or soup, pizzas, burritos, barbeque are common entrees for lunch. Sides of potatoes, rice and beans are good options.
Prepare a vegetarian alternative for folks who may desire vegetarian foods.
Additional foods might include, fruit salad, potato salad, chips, cookies and brownies.
Tea, Gatorade, soft drinks and fruit drinks (such as lemonade) are all good options.

Committees

Committees serve a collaboration of resources to help further the mission of Habitat for Humanity in various departments. If you have a particular expertise in any of the following areas, please consider joining:

Family Selection Committee
This committee processes applications, makes home visits, explains the program to applicants and makes applicant recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Family Support Committee

This committee works hand-in-hand with the homeowners and partners with individual families to help guide our new homeowners through partnership with Habitat. They support the homeowners and provide education and help to ensure they meet their "sweat equity" requirements.

Marketing Committee
This committee meets monthly to help guide the affiliate in marketing and public relations.

Site Selection Committee
This committee locates suitable and affordable property for the construction of new homes.

Construction Committee
This committee oversees the actual construction of a Habitat home to be sure that the home meets Habitat and local guidelines for housing. They also oversee new subdivision development.

Construction Crew
While our sponsors provide the majority of our work force on the job sites, there is always a need for individual crew leaders. These volunteers assist our construction manager in leading volunteers, answering questions and ensuring work is being done properly and safely.
